Welcome to
the Historic Westside

Westside Future Fund is a place-based nonprofit ensuring the legacy of the historic Westside lives on by restoring iconic neighborhoods into thriving mixed-income communities where families and futures can flourish — without displacing the people who’ve long called it home.

Together we’re restoring a community Dr. King
would be proud to call home.

The Heart
of Atlanta

The historic Westside is made up of five neighborhoods at the heart of Atlanta’s legacy.

The Heart
of Atlanta

The historic Westside is made up of five neighborhoods at the heart of Atlanta’s legacy.

Vine City

Once the home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Vine City sits central to the historic Westside, occupying a unique intersection of history, culture, and promise. As reinvestment intensifies across the neighborhood, Vine City is poised for growth that honors legacy and community continuity.

English Avenue

English Avenue is a core historic Westside neighborhood just northwest of downtown Atlanta. Once a thriving, vibrant Black community, it now sits in a moment of transformation. With strategic investments and community-centered redevelopment, English Avenue is becoming a place where legacy and progress converge.

Atlanta University Center

The Atlanta University Center (AUC) consortium consists of some of the foremost Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the country. As more than just campus grounds, the AUC area is a living, breathing neighborhood—home to students, faculty, longtime residents, and community partners. The AUC includes institutions such as Morehouse, Spelman, and Clark Atlanta.

Ashview Heights

Ashview Heights is one of the historic residential neighborhoods of Atlanta’s Westside, located just west of the Atlanta University Center. Established in the early 20th century, the neighborhood grew as a stable community of working and middle-class Black families, educators, and professionals connected to nearby institutions like Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University.

Just Us

Just Us is one of the smallest and most tightly knit neighborhoods within Atlanta’s historic Westside. Established in the early 20th century, the neighborhood developed as a residential community where families built strong connections and long-standing roots.
